About the Series – Organized by the SBA Lower Rio Grande Valley District Office Introducing the “Let's Talk Business Series,” a 12-part program that connects entrepreneurs with federal, state, and local small business resources. Whether you're a budding entrepreneur or looking to grow your business, this series covers essential business topics, provides a forum for networking, and promotes success in today’s dynamic business environment. Participants may attend one, two, six, or all sessions.Session 4 – Filing Requirements and Sales Tax ComplianceWhether you are selling handmade crafts online, opening a boutique, starting a food truck business, selling at vendor events, or providing a service, an essential step in starting your business is obtaining a sales tax permit. Doing business in Texas and selling taxable services requires you to collect and remit sales tax. A state tax ID number is tied directly to your business, enabling you to pay state taxes and ensuring compliance, which protects your business from unnecessary risk.
